to be a visionary

This space will provide a visual tool for our current curiosities, goals, inspirations, dreams, and ideas.

An online visual board to spark excitement, set goals, and boost motivation and value in our dreams and maybe yours too!

The Concept:

Visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do, and I have witnessed firsthand how miracles unfold using this simple and creative technique.

A vision board is a powerful tool designed to keep your aspirations at the forefront of your mind, ensuring that you remain focused and undistracted in pursuing your life goals. It serves to stay connected to your core values and the underlying reasons for pursuing specific objectives.

Creating a vision board should be an enjoyable and creative experience. There are numerous ways to craft one, whether the size of a poster board or a simple piece of paper. You can personalize it by cutting out images from magazines, printing photos from online sources like Google or Pinterest, or even incorporating your own doodles and drawings. Your vision board acts as a visual representation of the life you are striving for. During times when progress feels sluggish or the everyday seems mundane, a glance at your vision board will serve as a reminder of the significance of the present moment and why you are on this journey.

The Science:

Olympic athletes have been using it for decades to improve performance, and Psychology Today reported that the brain patterns activated when a weightlifter lifts heavy weights are also similarly activated when the lifter imagines (visualizes) lifting weights.

Neuroscientist Dr. Tara Swart explains: "Looking at images on a vision board primes the brain to grasp opportunities that may otherwise go unnoticed. That’s because the brain has a process called ‘value-tagging,’ which imprints important things onto your subconscious and filters out unnecessary information.”

“The brain assigns a higher ‘value’ to images than written words on a ‘to-do’ list,” says Swart, “And the more you look at those images, the more those images move up in importance.”

You can enhance this activity by looking at your vision board before bed each night. When you do this, the images will be imprinted even more deeply. This is because the brain is highly impressionable as it transitions into sleep. Focusing on something new during this period makes those images more likely to appear in your dreams and thoughts.

Vision boards are powerful tools that operate through the process of visualization. The brain struggles to distinguish between actual experiences and vividly imagined scenarios. As a result, when you visualize yourself as a published author rather than simply desiring to write a book, you are more likely to take the necessary actions to achieve that goal. This phenomenon highlights the significant impact of visualization on our physical capabilities.

Another way to manifest your vision is to practice. Regularly using an action board can help you become more willing to take action toward achieving your goals.

“Normally, when you try something new, the body has a stress response, releasing cortisol and adrenaline. In other words, new things can be scary,” Swart says. “However, when you repeatedly look at images related to your goals, your brain no longer sees them as new.

“The process reduces the [physiological] fear response to any new situation or person, making you more likely to take healthy risks, collaborate, and embrace the opportunity.”

How to make a vision board:

  • Choose your timeline. Do you want a yearly vision board? Quarterly vision boards? Or monthly vision boards?

  • Decide how you want to make it, digitally or on a hard copy like cardboard.

  • Add my word of the year with a definition. This month is Temperance.

  • Add categories to my board. These can be flexible, and not each category has to be added.

~ Finances/Giving Back
~ Personal (I use this for hobbies and faith-related things)
~ Family
~ Business
~ Health

  • Add my goals in typed format. Include goals and inspirational text typed out in words to motivate action.

  • Finish by adding photos that represent my goals. Including pictures of the actions that will get you to the end goal.

  • Creating your vision board is just the first step. It's a tool that needs to be put into action in order to benefit your life. Use your vision board to set intentions and create habits each month. Before you know it, you'll be making the things on your vision board happen!

I hope this inspires you to create one of your vision boards and that you get to see miracles unfold in your life, too.

Stay inspired, and may GOD bless you always!
